The cries for the next big shooter are answered. Shootmania is the next big name in competitive FPS. It has been on the rise ever since it’s debut at E3 2012. Competitive teams have been forming all over the world, along with many tournaments to support them. The game is still in beta and promises to be an even greater game by it’s release date. Don’t wait to get your hand on this FPS by Nadeo.
What is Shootmania all about? This fast-paced first person shooter has a heavy focus on mobility and precision. Anyone familiar with Quake or TRIBES will feel at home in this game. Shootmania pits players against each other in a large number of customizable game modes based around capturing a point or eliminating other players. Not only are the games modes customizable, the maps as well can be created to the user’s contentment thanks to the intuitive map creation mode. Several casual and professional players alike have been picking up the game and welcoming this next major esport.
Ubisoft and Nadeo have teamed up to bring this fps to the gaming world. Currently set for release in late 2012, Shootmania has been adapted to the competitive scene since it’s alpha versions. E3 earlier this year brought Shootmania to the attention of the competitive community with a worldwide tournament, and more cups have formed as the game evolves. The beta development has been going smoothly and has been recently shown at PAX with the IPL tournament. Shootmania is still being developed, but has already secured it’s place as a competitive shooter.
Gamers of every genre are getting together and forming teams to compete for increasing prize pools. Many of the solo Quake Live players have taken up Shootmania and had smooth transitions. Counter-Strike 1.6 teams are breaking down into groups of 3 to make a name in the game as well. The major names are still shuffling, but by the time the game has reached launch you can expect leaders to be determined. Just like any other esport, anyone can compete and take their chance to come out on top of the established pro players.
As development progresses, Shootmania continues to evolve into a more spectator friendly esport. The game mode that the tournaments have chosen is the Elite mode. In this mode, a team of 3 will send a player alone against the opposing three with the objective of capturing a point or being the last man standing. That player rotates amongst the attacking team’s members and is armed with a short delay rail gun. The defending players are armed with a rapid fire three shot rocket launcher that takes three hits to take down the “elite” player, while they are taken out in one shot from the elite. This mode ensures fair and intense matches between the two teams.
Shootmania will be on the scene for awhile, but don’t miss your chance to pick it up at a discount. You and your friends could be the next big stars of competitive FPS.
