IPL5 ShootMania Qualifier Map Pool!

IGN Pro League announcing the official map pool for our IPL5 ShootMania qualifiers: Collided, Fortress, Archways, Crossroads, TheCastle, and CastleCrashers!

These maps are considered to be some of the most balanced for attacking and defending, and are unique enough to make for drastically different gameplay on each.

Collided

Collided: This map has only one attack path when the round begins, so the attacker will need to be ready to go! If the attacker gives the defense too much time to set up, there will be rockets spammed at the choke point for quite a while. Once the attacker has entered the area of the map closer to the goal, the terrain really opens up with lots of archways and backdoor paths. Lone defenders will have their work cut out for them as time ticks down, because there are a number of ways for attackers to leap onto the Goal right at the last second. There are no tunnels or laser pads on Collided.

Fortress: This map can be difficult for attackers because of the orientation of the goal. It is set into the ground so attackers will always be spending at least a little time in the air as they approach, and as any good ShootMania player knows, that can be deadly. This map does have several routes available for attackers though, with paths outside of the compound being just as viable as running straight up the middle and letting your laser do the work. There are no tunnels, and only one laser pad on Fortress.

Archways: This map gives the attacker three choke points to choose from. The left and right arches are open to rocket spam from defenders, but if the attacker moves quickly enough, they won't get snagged. There is a third route through a tunnel, but it is possible for defenders to get there very quickly and use the powerful nucleus to make attackers wish they'd gone a different way. This map is a good one for defenders to be a bit more aggressive, as the three attack paths are fairly narrow and attackers won't be able to look around much as they proceed toward the goal. There is only one tunnel path and no laser pads on Archways.

Crossroads: Crossroads is a fairly large map and is one of the originals made by Nadeolive for Elite. Attackers must choose between a number of viable paths towards a small enclosed area containing the goal. Once they get past two laser pads, options open up near the goal with three different archways to choose from, a tunnel leading into the enclosed area, or the possibility of leaping over the walls and surprising a hiding defender. There are two tunnels on Crossroads as well.

TheCastle

TheCastle: Despite having no laser pads to work with, TheCastle is really a defender's dream. Early spotting of attackers is possible because the Goal is raised up in a corner of the map opposite of where the attacker must enter. Long range rockets and lasers connect often on this more wide-open affair. There is a jump pad near the Goal that attackers may make use of at their own risk, as defenders usually will post up very near the goal. This map has no tunnels or laser pads, and will often go into overtime.

CastleCrashers: The final map in our qualifier pool offers a variety of attack paths including two tunnel routes to try and slip past the defenders with. There is one rear-facing laser pad that will sometimes see use, but is largely avoided by attackers. The open area toward the middle of the map seems to be where most standoffs take place, with a rush to the Goal at the very end being a common sight. Lots of see-through fencing is available on this map for defenders to work with, trying to spot the attacker.
