options Tim Lorio's head ball found the head of Ben Marks before finding the net for the game-winner on Tuesday night, as Central Bucks East rallied to win, 2-1, at Souderton in Suburban One Continental boys' soccer.
Mark's goal came with 11 minutes, 30 seconds left in regulation after Ryan Vare's set piece from midfield was headed by Lorio, who found Marks.
Evan Vare, Ryan's brother, was taken down in the box midway through the first half to set up Brooke Weiss' game-tying penalty kick.
Tyler MacDougall scored for Souderton in the first half.
Also in the Suburban One, Scott Wexler recorded seven saves and John Roos scored two goals to lead Upper Dublin past visiting Upper Moreland, 5-0.
Inter-Ac. Brett Campbell scored twice and assisted on another goal to help Haverford School turn back host Malvern Prep, 3-0. The senior recorded his first goal in the 60th minute and another in the 74th.
Friends. Jerome Allen posted a six-save shutout as Friends' Central knocked off Germantown Friends, 1-0. Sam Stein netted the winner with a penalty kick in the 73d minute.
Central. Ryan Johnson turned away four shots to post a shutout as Upper Darby blanked visiting Marple Newtown, 3-0. Seniors Emanuel Amao, Stewart Mena, and Abdoul Sylla scored for the Royals.
Mark Gorman finished a first-half cross from Dan Mackowiak, and Springfield (Delco) held on to edge Radnor, 1-0. Senior Dave Sousa posted his sixth shutout with 10 saves.
Suburban One. Colin McGonigal tapped in the rebound of his own first-half shot, and Central Bucks South held on to edge Hatboro-Horsham, 1-0.
Pioneer. Rushawn Larmond scored twice in each half as Pottsgrove downed visiting Pottstown, 9-6.
Ches-Mont. Senior Omar Hernandez scored on a nice give-and-go to lead Avon Grove past visiting Sun Valley, 2-1.
After receiving a pass at the top of the penalty area, Hernandez passed to Brian Hatfield, who then found Hernandez on a through pass.
Golf
New Hope-Solebury had the top three finishers and captured the District 1 Class AA team title at Turtle Creek Golf Course. Andrew Bove finished first with a 76, and Mike and Leo Massimino finished a stroke behind.
On the first day of the Class AAA tournament, Upper Dublin's Andrew Carber recorded his first career hole-in-one and shot a 73. Paul Yun of Radnor was in first with a 70.
Basketball
Brandon Austin, a senior forward at Imhotep, will make an official visit to Providence this weekend and Connecticut on Oct. 19. He also is considering UCLA, Georgetown, and Texas.
Vaux senior Rysheed Jordan listed Temple and Syracuse among his final seven college choices. The 6-foot-3 guard also is considering Alabama, Rutgers, St. John's, UCLA, and Xavier.
Sophomore guard Sammy Foreman announced that he had enrolled at Vaux. He spent last year at Haverford School and is receiving Division I interest.
