Video games have come a long way. From the blocky controllers and greasy joysticks of days gone by to the home theaters of today in all their immaculate, HD glory, the video game has changed.
Some games have endured time's constant wear better than others. For years, even decades, some series have returned to new generations of gamers in different forms, but always with a storied past trailing behind them. We snagged a few of these examples below. Don't take it as a complete list, of course -- just a taste of the video games that have seen some big changes as we play on into tomorrow.
Did any of these blow your mind? Just a little bit? It's okay, you can tell us.
Let us know which games you're still playing after all these years in the comments thread below. And if you liked what you saw here, maybe we'll put together another edition for your amusement. Until then, keep those games rolling.
Brian Altano is IGN's Executive Editor of News & Features but he used to be a baby. He still acts like one on Twitter from time to time, so be sure to follow him at @agentbizzle.
Ryan Clements writes for IGN. He's going to NYCC for the first time tomorrow. Awesome pants. Follow him on Twitter at @PwamCider if you're in the mood.
