Hang With IGN, Get Swag at New-York Comic-Con

If you're reading this while putting the finishing touches on your MODOK costume, selling blood to afford collectibles or practicing your elbowing techniques for "crowd management," chances are heading to New York Comic-Con this weekend. And if you're heading down there and want to hang with IGN or get swag, here's a handy list of all the places we're going to be.

Check Out the IGN Theater

The biggest and best panels throughout the weekend will be taking place at the IGN Theater. Everything from The Walking Dead to Arrow will be showcasing presentations in this main hall, and for the first time ever, NYCC will be streaming the presentations here. Find out more about The Dark Knight Rises: Part 2, Carrie, the Evil Dead remake, as well as Haven, The Bay, Beautiful Creatures, and more. For a full schedule of IGN Theater events, check out the NYCC panel schedule.

Play Angry Birds... With Your Body

Stop by IGN/Samsung's booth to play Angry Birds on a Samsung Smart TV with Gesture Control. Don't worry, we won't make fun of your flailing, contorting body... much. To try your bod at it, head to the booth right outside the IGN Theater.

Get Free Sh*t

There are so many ways to score delicious nerdy goodies at conventions, we won't list them all... just the ones that apply to us. We'll be roving with Universal giving away posters to RZA's upcoming martial arts ass-kick-fest The Man With the Iron Fist. Score a poster or track down the photo booth (Booth 1861) for a lasting kung fu memento from the show.

Or... head to what will likely be the greatest panel in the history of the universe: the combined Free Sh*t and Podcast Beyond Power Hour. First, Free Sh*t's Chris will be live and in person doing what he does best: sweating and being awkward. But he'll also be giving away gobs of stuff, ranging from worthless to semi-worthwhile!

This, but live:

Then stay in the exact same room for a live podcast extravaganza featuring Colin "He Only Does Everything" Moriarty and "Wonder Boy" Ryan Clements. Laugh, cry, get hit in the face with flying Blu-rays! For more details on the panel, check out this handy link.

Hang With IGN Editors

We have commandeered Dave and Busters in Times Square for an event that involves IGN editors, alcohol and games. What could go wrong? Come down and high-five (or low-five, we aren't picky) the IGN staff, drink beer and be merry. Don't really know how many more ways we can say it: you will drink, talk and have fun. Be there at 8:00 and we will, too.

EVE Online Retribution Announced, Detailed

Chances are you've probably read more about EVE Online than you've played it. Approaching its 10-year anniversary, the spaceship-filled MMO from CCP Games has only grown each year, and the team predicts that 2013 will be their biggest yet with the free upcoming expansion EVE Online: Retribution.

Retribution is CCP's attempt to make EVE a bit more approachable, as well as update systems that just aren't working all that well. Most notably, the team is changing up the Bounty Hunting and Crimewatch systems. The new bounty system will allow players to not only place marks on users, but also corporations and alliances. The Crimewatch system will now have very easy-to-understand symbols that show you what level of crime you've committed and tell you the consequences at a glance. Additionally, Crimewatch is being redesigned so that there are less loopholes for players to commit crimes and then take actions that game the intended system. CCP loves emergent gameplay, but they really want Retribution to emphasize the idea that every action has a tangible consequence.

Other changes coming in the December 4th expansion are tweaks to the Factional Warfare system, revamped art and graphics for ships, a new mining frigate, four new destroyers (one for each faction), NPC AI improvements, better UI, a "Weapon Safety" feature that will prevent new players from accidentally committing crimes and the opening up of some of the studio's CREST API to see what users can do with it. CCP also wants to do some rebalancing, with boosts to early warfare, as well as improvements to the role and progression systems for ships.

Anthony Gallegos is an Editor on IGN's PC team. He enjoys scaring the crap out of himself with horror games and then releasing some steam in shooters like Blacklight and Tribes. You can follow him on Twitter and on IGN.
